emergency weather policy

Emergency, Catastrophic Events, and Force Majeure Situations

In emergency situations, such as localized or general street flooding or rare winter icing in Houston, our policy is to prioritize the safety of our clients, team members, and property while continuing transportation as necessary and possible.

Our goal is to get you to your destination safely, but based on past experiences, we highly recommend postponing or rescheduling your travel plans during these emergencies.

If you choose to proceed with your travel plans, please take a moment to understand our limitations and business practices during these times when mobility issues are beyond our control.

Policies During Emergencies

In these situations, the following actions may be taken individually or collectively, as decided solely by Elite management, either globally or on a case-by-case basis:

  • Cancellation: We may cancel your transportation altogether, providing as much notice as possible, and offer a full refund.
  • Minimum Trip Charge: If you decline to cancel your reservation or cancel within a 6-hour window (due to the need for chauffeurs to start early in these situations), you may be charged a minimum trip cost. This applies whether you are eventually picked up or not, if we cannot reasonably reach you due to the emergency, or if delays cause you to seek other transportation.
  • Degraded Mode Operation: We may operate in a degraded mode, suspending punctuality, vehicle standards, and dress code requirements.
  • Hourly Pricing Model: We may suspend point-to-point pricing and revert to an hourly pricing model. This will result in the trip being charged hourly from our garage to your destination and back, including any traffic, shutdown, or wait time, which may be extensive.
  • Safe Pickup Areas: We may request that you make your way to a known safe area for pickup rather than a specific address.
  • Suspension at Safe Areas: We may suspend transportation at the nearest known safe area to your requested drop-off address.
  • Priority to Out-of-Town Travelers: We may prioritize out-of-town travelers who likely do not have their own transportation.
  • These decisions may change multiple times throughout the day as the situation evolves.

We strongly suggest postponing or rescheduling your travels during these emergency situations.

Communication and Adjustments

We will always attempt to contact you via phone, email, or text to offer the option of canceling your transportation at no charge.

If we cannot contact you or if you decide to proceed with your request for transportation during these situations, we will adjust our billing and services as listed above, as determined by management.

Please be aware that in these situations, your cost may be significantly different from the original pricing, similar to a taxi waiting in traffic.

Our goal is to get you where you need to be while adhering to legal requirements and working within the logistical limitations imposed during these events.

Thank you for your understanding during these extreme and unusual circumstances.
